Regular consumption of diets rich in flavonols may significantly cut down the odds of developing stroke.
This research work examined the correlation between the intake of flavonol-rich foods and the odds of developing stroke. Researchers conducted a meta-analysis on data and evidence extracted from 8 cohort studies that examined 280,174 subjects and 5,288 cases of stroke.
Researchers found out that generous intake of diets high in flavonols decreased stroke risk. Consistent consumption of 20mg of flavonols per day was found to reduce the likelihood of developing stroke by 14%, especially among men. The findings of this meta-analysis show that high consumption of flavonol-rich foods may be beneficial in the prevention of stroke.
