An updated review of the epidemiological evidence that cigarette smoking increases risk of colorectal cancer.

​The odds of developing colorectal cancer may be tilted against cigarette smokers.

This study was carried out to determine the effect of cigarette smoking on colorectal cancer risk using a meta-analytic approach. Researchers used data obtained from more than 50 studies to analyze the link between cigarette smoking and colorectal cancer risk.

Researchers discovered that cigarette smoking can predispose an individual to develop colorectal cancer. The authors of this study concluded that colorectal cancer should be added to the list of cancers associated with cigarette smoking.
