Individuals may be edging closer to a diagnosis of colon and rectal cancer with every portion of red and processed meats they consume.
This study analyzed data drawn out from previously published studies that focused on the role regular intake of meat play in the development of cancers in the gastrointestinal system. Nutritional and health data from 40 different study populations comprising of over 3.7 million individuals were examined for this meta-analysis.
Researchers found out that high dietary ingestion of red and processed meats resulted in a hike in the probability of developing cancer of the colon and rectum. Based on the findings of this meta-analysis, it can be concluded that fondness for red and processed meats may precipitate the formation of cancerous cells and tumors in the colon and rectum.
