Generous intake of hot tea may trigger the formation and spread of cancerous cells and tumors in the esophagus.
This study investigated the link between the consumption of hot tea and the occurrence of esophageal cancer using a meta-analytic approach. Researchers performed an in-depth analysis on data drawn out from 21 studies that examined a total of 5,050 patients with esophageal cancer and 10,609 individuals without the disease.
Researchers observed that a high percentage of esophageal cancer occurred among frequent drinkers of hot tea. Evidence from this study indicate that ardent consumers of hot tea may be prone to suffer from esophageal cancer.
