Upping the intake of allium vegetables may improve our chances of fending off stomach (gastric) cancer.
This study was carried out to confirm the protective effect of high allium vegetable diets against gastric (stomach) cancer. The study population included 3,229 Chinese men and women who volunteered information about their dietary habits and stomach cancer diagnosis status.
Researchers observed that participants who ate generous portions of allium vegetables, particularly garlic, regularly were less likely to receive a diagnosis of gastric cancer. The results of this study showed that devout consumption of allium vegetables may help halt the formation and spread of cancerous cells and tumors in the stomach.
