Tumors and cancerous cells are less likely to develop in the stomach of frequent consumers of high fiber diets.
This research work evaluated how the consumption of dietary fiber affect gastric (stomach) cancer development risk. Researchers conducted a meticulous meta-analysis on data extracted from 21 studies that examined 580,064 subjects.
Researchers observed a low incidence of stomach cancer among subjects who consistently consumed diets rich in dietary fiber. Regular intake of 10g of fiber per day was found to reduce the chances of developing gastric cancer by 44% in this study. The findings of this meta-analysis suggest that the risk of stomach cancer may decrease with increased consumption of high fiber diets.
