Habitual drinking of alcohol may fuel the development of gastric (stomach) cancer.
This study explored the relationship between alcohol use and the development of gastric (stomach) cancer. The study population included 128,218 Korean men and women who provided over 8-years worth of lifestyle and health information.
Researchers observed that regular consumption of alcohol, even at low amounts, drove up the risk of gastric cancer significantly. The findings of this study showed that frequent drinking of alcohol may induce the transformation of normal cells to cancerous tumors in the stomach.
