High consumption of salty foods may increase stomach cancer risk.
This research work was carried out to determine the correlation between regular consumption of salty foods and the incidence of gastric (stomach) cancer by meta-analysis. Seven studies that examined 268718 subjects were included in this meta-analysis. Researchers observed that subjects with high dietary intake of salt had elevated risk of developing stomach cancer. The results of this study provide evidence that generous consumption of salty foods may promote the development of cancerous cells in the stomach.
