This study evaluated the risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease in accordance with the level of consumption of dietary fiber. Researchers studied 14,947 adults between the ages of 40 and 79 years with regards to their diets and the occurrence of cardiovascular disease.
Researchers identified a strong connection between elevated consumption of heavy fiber diets and decreased risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. This study concluded that habitual ingestion of foods rich in fiber may make an individual less likely to be diagnosed with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
