Creating more room for ultra-processed foods in our menu may put us on the path to developing cardiovascular and respiratory disease.
This study assessed the risk of developing cardiovascular and respiratory diseases based on the level of consumption of ultra-processed foods. Researchers utilized dietary and health records compiled from men and women who were part of the UK Biobank Study Cohort.
Researchers noticed that upping the rate of intake of ultra-processed foods by 10% increased the risk of developing cardiovascular and respiratory disease by 6% and 4% respectively. Based on the data from study, it can be concluded that fondness for ultra-processed foods may make an individual vulnerable to both cardiovascular and respiratory diseases.
