High serum concentrations of cholesterol crystals may elevate vascular inflammation in cardiovascular ailments and atherosclerosis risk.
This research work was carried out to investigate the correlation between cholesterol crystal deposition and vascular inflammation in cardiovascular diseases. Researchers reviewed several published literatures on the subject. They found out that high concentrations of cholesterol crystals in the blood vessels promote the development of chronic vascular inflammation and atherosclerosis. The results of this study reveal that high plasma concentrations of cholesterol crystals increase inflammatory responses in cardiovascular diseases and atherosclerosis risk.
