This study seeks to investigate the theory that alcohol abuse is one of the major factors contributing to the rising incidence of cardiovascular disease globally. Researchers evaluated the diagnosis rates of cardiovascular disease in a study group comprising of 7,420 patients with alcohol use disorder and 29,680 persons free from this condition.
Researchers found a high proportion of cardiovascular diseases among the patients with alcohol use disorder. This study demonstrated that alcohol abuse might increase an individual's predisposition to cardiovascular disease.
