Individuals with high intake of ultra-processed foods are likely to become hypertensive.
This meta-analysis collated the findings of past studies that compared at the incidence of hypertension among consumers and non-consumers of ultra-processed foods (UPFs). Data from 9 studies were included in this meta-analysis.
Researchers noticed that hypertension was predominant among participants who loved eating ultra-processed foods. This 2024 study came to the conclusion that "high UPF consumption is associated with an increased risk of hypertension."
