Adopting a physically active lifestyle may significantly slash Crohn's disease risk in women.
This study evaluated the impact of physical activity on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) risk. Researchers charted the level of physical activity against the frequency of occurrence of inflammatory bowel diseases, such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, in a study population comprising of nearly 200,000 women recruited from the Nurses' Health Study.
Researchers noted physically active women had better chances of preventing Crohn's disease than their counterparts who live a sedentary lifestyle. This study affirmed that engaging in physical activity may boost a woman's odds of keeping Crohn's disease at bay.
