The purpose of this meta-analysis was to summarize evidence from relevant studies that explored the prevalence of depression among consumers and non-consumers of ultra-processed foods. Researchers sifted through data and evidence obtained from 21 studies.
Researchers discovered that high dietary ingestion of ultra-processed foods correlated with rising risk of depression. This meta-analysis further adds to the evidence that ultra-processed food lovers may have a high tendency to experience symptoms of depression.
