High consumers of alcohol are prone to suffering from deaths resulting from cirrhosis.
The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between alcohol usage and mortality risk from cirrhosis. Researchers monitored the alcohol drinking habits and mortality records obtained from thousands of men and women living in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United States, and United Kingdom.
Researchers found out that death toll from cirrhosis was high among heavy consumers of alcoholic beverages, particularly spirits. This study suggests that indulgence in alcohol may put an individual at risk of dying from cirrhosis.
