Women who smoke cigarettes may be highly prone to come down with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

This study provided evidence that found a link between cigarette smoking and the development of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in women. Researchers reviewed the smoking habits and medical records of over 200,000 US women.

Researchers observed that current smokers had increased propensity to suffer from systemic lupus erythematosus compared to never smokers. This study demonstrated that cigarette smoking may propel a woman on the path that leads to the development of systemic lupus erythematosus.
