The combination of a medically-supervised 21-day water-only fast and an exclusively plant based diet may be an effective therapy for treating follicular lymphoma.
Close observation, immunotherapy, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy are the current treatment options available to follicular lymphoma (FL) patients. This study examined the efficacy of the combination of a medically supervised 21-day water-only fast and an exclusively plant foods diet in the management of follicular lymphoma. Trained medical personnel supervised the administration of a 21-day water fast therapy on a 42-year-old stage IIIa, grade 1 FL female patient. At the conclusion of the therapy, the subject was placed on a plant-based nutrition devoid of sugar, oil, and salt (SOS).
At the end of the treatment program, researchers noticed a significant reduction in the size of the lymph nodes of the patient. Non palpable lymph nodes and no symptoms were observed in the subject after 6- and 9-months respectively. This case showcases the potentials of a 21-day water-only fasting therapy and a SOS-free plant-based diet in the treatment of follicular lymphoma.
