This study examined if fondness for fiber-rich foods is tied to improved cognitive function in older adults. Researchers assessed the dietary choices and cognitive performance of 1,070 men and women above the age of 59 years between 2011 and 2014.
The team of researchers noticed that greater consumption of high fiber foods was related to lower risk of cognitive impairment and better cognitive function in older adults. The findings of this study affirmed the notion that habitual consumption of foods loaded with fiber may help combat cognitive decline in older individuals.
