Adhering to diets rich in high-fiber foods may help women to keep stroke at bay.
The objective of this study was to examine whether increase in the frequency of consumption of foods high in dietary fiber influences the risk of stroke in women. Researchers compared dietary fiber intake levels with the incidence of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke in a study population comprising of 27,373 UK women.
Researchers found a low prevalence of both ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke attack among women on high fiber diets. Data from this study show indicate that regular intake of fiber-containing foods may help to substantially reduce the risk of stroke in women.
