This study performed a meta-analysis on the results obtained from published studies that investigated how dietary intake of fiber influences the risk of developing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Researchers sifted through data culled from 5 studies that examined over 200,000 men and women.
Researchers found out that consuming extra 10 grams of fiber-rich foods, such as fruits and cereals, daily decreased chronic obstructive pulmonary disease risk by as much as 26%. This study pointed out that eating foods high in fiber may contribute to the prevention of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in men and women.
