This study determined whether low intake of dietary fiber is associated with heightened risk of constipation. Researchers charted the frequency of fiber consumption against the occurrence of constipation in a study group consisting of 14,024 adults.
Researchers noticed that participants at the bottom of the fiber consumption ladder had high propensity to suffer from constipation. This study supports the recommendation that upping our intake of fiber-rich foods may help shield us from constipation.
