Generous consumption of fruit fiber may reduce the likelihood of acquiring idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
This study evaluated the correlation between the intake of high-fiber diets and the occurrence of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Researchers reviewed the dietary and medical records of 164 Japanese men and women aged 40 years and above.
Researchers discovered that high consumption of fruit fiber lessened the risk of having idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. "Our findings suggest that fruit intake may confer protection against the development of IPF," concluded the authors.
