High dietary ingestion of fast foods and sugar-sweetened beverages may elevate mortality risk in older adults.
This research work studied the connection between the consumption of fast foods and sugar-sweetened beverages and mortality risk in older adults. Researchers monitored the dietary and mortality records of more than 65,000 men and women between the ages of 50 and 76 years.
Researchers observed that increased intake of fast foods and sugared beverages correlated with greater mortality risk. High cancer and cardiovascular disease mortality risk was associated with frequent consumption of fast foods in this study. The data from this study show that fondness for fast foods and sugared beverages may increase the rate of mortality in older adults.
