This study determined the impact of sugar-sweetened beverage consumption on an individual's propensity to develop dental caries. A total of 14,192 children and adults in the United States were recruited for this study and provided information about their sugary beverage intake levels and dental health.
Researchers noticed that habitual drinkers of sugared beverages had a high disposition to have severe and untreated dental caries. This study demonstrated that fondness for sugar-sweetened beverages may spur the occurrence of dental caries in children and adults.
