High dietary intake of fruits and vegetables may help cut down type 2 diabetes risk.
This study examined fruit and vegetable consumption in relation to the incidence of diabetes mellitus. Researchers analyzed nutritional and clinical data obtained from several published studies on the subject. They discovered that regular intake of 2-3 servings of fruits and vegetables per day decreased the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The findings of this meta-analysis support the hypothesis that a substantial reduction in the incidence of type 2 diabetes can be achieved through progressive increase in fruit and vegetable consumption in the general population.
