Habitual consumption of vegetables may help curtail cataract formation in men.
This research work studied the connection between fruit and vegetable intake levels and the onset of cataracts. More than 70,000 Japanese men and women took part in this study and were assessed for their dietary choices and the occurrence of cataracts over a 5-year period.
Researchers discovered that generous ingestion of vegetables decreased the risk of formation of cataracts in men, but not in women. This study suggests that men who want to minimize their chances of developing cataracts should add more vegetables to their diets.
