Consistent consumption of organic vegetables may help ward off pre-eclampsia in pregnant women.
This study looked at the influence eating a high vegetable diet has on a pregnant woman's chances of developing pre-eclampsia. With the aid of validated food frequency questionnaires, researchers collated and assessed the dietary choices of 28,192 pregnant women living in Norway. The incidence of pre-eclampsia in the study population was obtained from hospital records.
Researchers noticed that participants who ate organic vegetables had brighter chances of fending off pre-eclampsia than their counterparts who consumed little or none of these plant foods. This study pointed out that greater intake of organic vegetables may help curb the development of pre-eclampsia in pregnant women.
