Sticking to a diet that promotes the intake of healthy plant foods may help protect older men and women from osteoporosis.
This study examined if there is a tie between the consumption of healthy plant foods and reduced risk of osteoporosis in older men and women. With the aid of dietary questionnaires and hospital records, researchers collated information on the eating habits and incidence of osteoporosis among 9,613 Chinese men and women aged 60 years and above.
Researchers discovered that high compliance with a diet rich in healthy plant foods strengthened bone density and cut down osteoporosis risk, especially among women. The results of this study showed that eating healthy plant foods consistently may be beneficial for bone health.
