Sticking to a vegetarian diet may strengthen a woman's defenses against breast cancer.
This study estimated the risk of breast cancer among consumers and non-consumers of vegetarian diets. Researchers compared the diets of 134 Iranian women with breast cancer and 265 females without the disease.
Researchers noted that women who ate plant foods had better chances of avoiding breast cancer than their colleagues who consumed animal-based diets. This study suggests that hopping on the vegetarian dietary train may help drive down the risk of breast cancer in women.
