Dietary Inflammatory Index and Renal Cell Carcinoma Risk in an Italian Case-Control Study

High compliance with a proinflammatory diet may facilitate the development of renal cell (kidney) cancer.

This study determined if eating a proinflammatory diet is tied to elevated risk of kidney cancer/renal cell cancer (RCC). Researchers tracked the nutritional choices of 767 patients with kidney cancer and 1,534 individuals without the disease.

Researchers found out that the likelihood of being diagnosed with renal cell cancer rose significantly with devout consumption of proinflammatory diets. This study arrived at the conclusion that "a proinflammatory diet is associated with increased RCC risk."
