This research work evaluated the role dietary fiber play in the prevention of nasopharyngeal cancer. Researchers tracked the diets and rate of occurrence of nasopharyngeal cancer in a study population comprising of more than 700 subjects.
Researchers observed that subjects who regularly consumed foods high in different types of fiber, such as cellulose, lignin, soluble, and insoluble fiber, demonstrated a significant reduction nasopharyngeal cancer risk. This 2013 study of Italian men and women documented the beneficial effect of fiber on nasopharyngeal cancer risk.
