Frequent consumption of cholesterol-rich foods may increase an individual's risk of developing type 2 diabetes..
This study investigated the relationship between high dietary intake of cholesterol-rich foods and type 2 diabetes risk by meta-analysis. Five studies were included in this meta-analysis.
Researchers observed a significant elevation in type 2 diabetes risk among regular consumers of cholesterol-rich foods. A significant increase in type 2 diabetes risk was associated with the consumption of an additional 100 mg of cholesterol per day. The findings of this study suggest that generous intake of food high in cholesterol may increase an individual's odds of developing type 2 diabetes.
