Long term users of antidepressants may have a high propensity to develop type 2 diabetes.
This research work was carried out to study the connection between the use of antidepressants and the probability of developing type 2 diabetes. Researchers followed and evaluated more than 100,000 Taiwanese subjects with regards to their antidepressant usage and type 2 diabetes risk.
Researchers found out that individuals who took antidepressants for a long time were more prone to develop type 2 diabetes than non-users of these medications.Data from this study show that long term use of antidepressants can facilitate the onset of type 2 diabetes.
