Women who are frequent consumers of nuts and peanut butter are less prone to develop type 2 diabetes.
This study investigated the correlation between the consumption of nuts and peanut butter and the risk of type 2 diabetes in women. Using validated food frequency questionnaires, researchers examined the diets of 83,818 women within the age bracket of 34 to 59 years and with no previous history of cancer, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. The type 2 diabetes odds ratio of each of the participant in this study was also determined.
Researchers observed that subjects with high dietary intake of nuts and peanut butter demonstrated a significant decline in type 2 diabetes risk. The results of this study show that regular consumption of large servings of nuts and peanut butter may help reduce the likelihood of type 2 diabetes in women.
