Individuals who are frequently exposed to second-hand smoke may have a high tendency of developing type 2 diabetes.
This study evaluated the correlation between passive smoking and the odds of developing type 2 diabetes. Researchers analyzed 4 cohort studies that examined the effect of the second-hand smoking on type 2 diabetes risk. They observed a significant elevation in type 2 diabetes risk among individuals who were regularly exposed to second-hand smoke. The results of this meta-analysis show that passive smoking can increase non-smokers' risk of getting type 2 diabetes.
