Ultra-processed food consumption and risk of obesity: a prospective cohort study of UK Biobank

Researchers gathered data on the eating habits, percentage of body fat, waist circumference, and body mass index (BMI) of 22,659 UK men and women over a 5-year period.

Researchers discovered that high dietary ingestion of ultra-processed foods increased body fat, waist circumference, and body mass index and promoted overall obesity in men and women. The results of this study showed that likeness for ultra-processed foods may propel an individual on the path to piling up excess pounds and becoming obese.
