This study focused on how dietary intake of salt influences gastric (stomach) cancer risk. Researchers performed a comprehensive meta-analysis on evidence extracted from 26 studies that examined nearly 5 million persons.
Researchers discovered that the odds of developing stomach cancer were stacked against participants who enjoyed consuming salted foods, such as processed meats and pickled vegetables. This study showed that fondness for salty foods may be a contributing factor to the onset of gastric cancer.
