Elevated risk of venous thromboembolism is associated with high intake of red and processed meat products.
This study examined the relationship between the consumption of red meat and processed meats and the occurrence of venous thromboembolism by meta-analysis. Seven (7) studies were included in this meta-analysis. Researchers observed that high intake of red meat increased the risk of developing venous thrombosis. The results of this study suggest that venous thromboembolism is more likely to occur among frequent consumers of red and processed meats.
