Women on diet rich in red meat may be highly prone to suffer from anxiety, depression, and psychological distress.
This study examined the frequency of red meat consumption and its impact on mental health in women. Researchers studied the red meat intake levels and incidence of anxiety, depression, and psychological distress among 482 Iranian women within the age bracket of 20-50 years.
Researchers observed that women on top of the red meat consumption ladder had high probability of suffering from depression, anxiety, and psychological distress than their counterparts who ate little or none of these animal foods. This study points out that regular ingestion of red meat may have a negative effect on mental health in women.
