Avid consumption of fruits and vegetables may improve an individual's chances of avoiding chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
The objective of this meta-analysis was to determine the effect of high dietary ingestion of fruits and vegetables on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) risk. Researchers evaluated data extracted from nearly 250,000 men and women who participated in 8 studies.
Data analysis revealed that the more fruits and vegetables individuals consumed, the better protected they are from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. This study highlights the beneficial role of fruits and vegetables in the prevention of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
