Imbibing the habit of eating fruits, vegetables, and berries regularly may knock down cardiovascular and total mortality risk in middle-aged men.
This study determined if there is a connection between the level of consumption of fruits, vegetables, and berries and the risk of suffering from premature death due to cardiovascular disease and other causes. Researchers collated and analyzed data on the dietary habits and mortality records of 4,591 Finnish middle-aged men within the age bracket of 42-60 years.
The research team observed that participants who consumed the highest amounts of fruits, berries, and vegetables had the lowest risk of dying from cardiovascular diseases and other causes. "Consequently, the findings of this work indicate that diets that are rich in plant-derived foods can promote longevity," the study concluded.
