Associations of cereal grains intake with cardiovascular disease and mortality across 21 countries in Prospective Urban and Rural Epidemiology study: prospective cohort study

The odds of developing and dying from cardiovascular disease may be stacked against habitual consumers of generous portions of refined grains.

This study analyzed the connection between the intake of cereal grains and cardiovascular disease development and mortality risk. A group of international researchers reviewed the nutritional and medical data of more than 140,000 men and women recruited from 21 countries.

Researchers discovered that consumers of more than 7 servings of refined grains per day experienced an upsurge in cardiovascular disease and mortality risk compared to their counterparts who ate little or none of these foods. The data from this study indicate that lovers of refined grains may be highly prone to acquiring and dying from cardiovascular disease.
