Does frequent intake of ultra-processed foods raise the risk of dental caries occurring in an adolescent? This study set out to provide answer to this question. A total of 996 adolescents between the ages of 12-13 years enrolled for this study.
Researchers found out that generous ingestion of ultra-processed foods correlated with increased incidence of dental caries in adolescents. The data from study suggest that indulgence in ultra-processed foods may trigger the onset of dental caries in adolescents.
