Frequent consumption of isoflavone-rich foods, such as soy foods, may cut down the risk of allergic rhinitis in pregnant women.
This study examined the relationship between high dietary ingestion of soy and isoflavone-containing foods and the risk of allergic rhinitis in pregnant women. Researchers looked at the diets and health records of 1,002 pregnant Japanese women.
Researchers found out that more consumption of soy and isoflavone-rich foods resulted in lower incidence of allergic rhinitis in the study population. This study suggests that pregnant women who want to ward off allergic rhinitis should add more foods high in isoflavones to their diets.
