This study determined the role vegetarian diet plays in reducing the weight of individuals using a meta-analytic approach. Researchers pooled data from 11 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving 1,151 persons placed on vegetarian and non vegetarian diets for an average of 18 months.
Researchers discovered that participants in the vegetarian group experienced a significant reduction in their weight compared to their counterparts in the non vegetarian group. The findings of this study reveal that vegetarian diets may promote weight loss in an individual.
