Fondness for soy foods may confer women with adequate protection against breast cancer.
This meta-analysis synthesized data from previously published studies that focused on the relationship between habitual intake of isoflavone-containing foods, such as red clover and soy foods, and a woman's propensity to develop and die from breast cancer. A total of 131 scientific publications was found eligible for this meta-analysis.
Data analysis revealed that the odds of being diagnosed, suffering from recurrence, and dying from breast cancer decreased significantly among women on high soy diets. This study concluded that "soy consumption may be associated with reduced risk of breast cancer incidence, recurrence, and mortality."
