Association between dietary inflammatory index and musculoskeletal disorders in adults

Individuals on pro-inflammatory diets may be prone to suffer from disorders of the musculoskeletal system.

This study clarified the relationship between regular ingestion of pro-inflammatory foods and the occurrence of musculoskeletal disorders in men and women. More than 7,000 Iranian men and women enrolled for this study and provided dietary and health information via validated questionnaires.

Researchers observed that participants at the top of the pro-inflammatory food consumption ladder frequently reported symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders, such as back and joint pain/stiffness. The results of this study highlight the connection between following a pro-inflammatory diet and the development of musculoskeletal disorders.
