Increased inflammatory potential of diet is associated with bone mineral density among postmenopausal women in Iran

Subscribing to a pro-inflammatory diet may lead to weaker lumbar spine in postmenopausal women.

The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of high dietary ingestion of pro-inflammatory foods on bone mineral density in postmenopausal women. Researchers examined the diets and measured the bone mass of the femoral neck and lumbar spine of 160 postmenopausal women from Iran.

Researchers found out that pro-inflammatory food eaters had low bone mineral density in their lumbar spine. This study demonstrated that adhering to a pro-inflammatory diet may weaken the lumbar spine in postmenopausal women.
