Alcohol intake may be a contributing factor to the dramatic rise in the number of deaths by suicide.

This meta-analysis explored the correlation between alcohol usage and the risk of dying by suicide. Researchers considered data from 33 studies involving over 10 million participants for this meta-analysis.

Researchers observed a 94% increase in mortality rates from suicide among alcohol drinkers. This study demonstrated that alcohol consumers may have a high propensity to commit suicide.
